Feelin' Blue?

August 17 marks the anniversary of the release of Miles Davis' seminal blues album "Kind of Blue".  Did you know we have jazz and blues music in the library?

Not only do we have the CD for "Kind of Blue", we also have recordings from Charlie Parker, Billie Holiday, John Coltrane, Leadbelly, Muddy Waters...

Our CD collection contains a number of different genres - from classical music through to the Beatles and the Rolling Stones, and many others besides.

We have copies of some of the most seminal records from the mid-20th Century.

Want to listen to the Stone's "Forty Licks"?  We have that. Want to listen to Carol King's "Tapestry"?  We have that, too. Fleetwood Mac's "Rumours"?  Yep. Joni Mitchell's "Both Sides Now"? Indeed. David Bowie's "Heroes"?  We've got that one, too. Springsteen's "Born in the USA"?  You know we do.

What about the Beatles "The White Album"?  Yes, we have that as well - although it's one "volume" of a 16 CD set which has all of the Beatles albums remastered.

And if that sounds a bit like your dad's record collection...  Sorry about that.  We're an academic library.  We don't have the coolest and latest music - just the stuff someone thought would be part of a good education.

So, why not take a look at our CDs and start educating yourself?

What's that, you say?  CDs are so "last century"? You'd rather listen to the blues online instead of coming into the library in person? Okay. We subscribe to the Naxos online music catalogue, so we can help you out with that, too.
