Today is Friday the 13th

The belief in many parts of the Western world that Friday the 13th (also known as Black Friday) is an unlucky day is fairly widespread. Credo explains some of the history and possible origins of this superstition. However, it seems that the main reason for the survival of this superstition is due to today's media outlets looking for material to fill news timeslots. The history of the day does make for interesting reading though.
