Sounds like a display

Every now and then we like to showcase one of our less-frequently displayed collections to fill in time between "bigger" displays (book displays linked with events, which tend to stay around for a few weeks).

These displays can be fleeting, and sometimes feature items in our collection that are, let's say, "more interesting on the inside".

Should you come into the Eddie Koiki Mabo Library in Townsville, you will find just such a "fleeting display" near the InfoHelp desk:

Sounds like... BBC

This showcases our collection of Foley CDs from the BBC - sound clips of all sorts of things from all over the place.

Do you need sound effects for a project? This collection contains everything from the sounds of dogs whining to steam-powered farm machinery to a Parisian cafe.

Sure, the CDs aren't the most interesting things to look at, but if you need the sound of a creaking door and some footsteps, or a variety of bumps, bangs and explosions, this set probably has something you'll want to hear.

The discs are on display for a limited time, while we prepare for our next event, but you will always be able to find these CDs in the CD collection, on the First Floor of the building, down between Curriculum and Scores. Just ask someone at the InfoHelp desk and they will point you in the right direction.
